Wear protection engineered around your plant
Tough Weld is a premium global brand and a leading manufacturer of advanced wear-resistant components.
We specialise in engineering high-performance solutions that drastically extend equipment lifetime, reduce maintenance costs and eliminate costly unscheduled downtime in heavy industry.
Through continuous metallurgy research and cutting-edge overlay technologies, we develop premium wear solutions that withstand extreme abrasion, heavy impact and severe operating temperatures. Every plate leaves our works as a bimetallic material: a hard, carbide-rich working face fused to a mild steel backing that keeps its structural integrity through cutting, forming and welding.
What makes Tough Weld different?
01
Metallurgical Superiority
Our bimetallic wear plates deliver maximum protection, featuring a high concentration of primary chromium carbides and complex carbides (macro-hardness 58–63 HRC).
02
Custom Engineering
We do not believe in one-size-fits-all. We analyse the specific wear patterns of your plant to design, cut and fabricate liners, hoppers and chutes tailored to your exact operational layout.
03
Global Quality Control
From raw materials to the final hard facing layer, every Tough Weld product undergoes rigorous testing to guarantee maximum durability in the field.
Engineered for performance & sustainability
Tough Weld plates combine cutting-edge metallurgy with sustainable manufacturing to deliver exceptional wear protection.
Metallurgical Structure
Our wear plates consist of high-density primary chromium carbides (Cr₇C₃) seamlessly bound into a supportive, shock-absorbing austenitic steel matrix. This prevents brittleness under structural strain.
Impenetrable Hardness
A macro-hardness of 58 – 63 HRC across the full plate area, verified against ASTM G65 procedure A. The carbide volume is uniform through the deposit, so the last millimetre of the overlay works as hard as the first.
Ideal Working Environments
Perfect for demanding applications involving continuous sliding and abrasive wear from rock, coal, ore, limestone, marl, clinker, cement or slag particles, including dump trucks, hopper dividers, dedusting, pneumatic transport, wear liners and transfer chutes.
Key technical advantages
- High volume primary chromium carbide evenly distributed
- Flat surface with excellent plate flatness
- Macro-hardness: 58 – 63 HRC
- Multiple grades available to suit different applications
- Excellent wear performance (ASTM G65 procedure A)
- Larger sheet size to extend plate utilisation
- Uniform plus tolerance thickness
- Good formability due to even stress relief in overlay
